Outcomes of the 1st Asian Science and Technology Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction

The 1stAsian Science and Technology Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction took place from 23-24 August 2016 at Swissotel Nai Lert Park hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The conference organised by Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute (HAII) and The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). The dialogue aims to bring together key disaster risk reduction policy-makers (HFA/ Sendai Focal points) and representatives of key scientific organisations from Asian countries to discuss on strengthening the science-policy interface towards science based disaster risk reduction policy development. There were 318 participants from 27 countries in academia, government and private sectors and international institutions.

The key recommendations and messages from this conference will be reported to the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction 2016 during 2-5 November 2016, at New Delhi, India.
