No wetlands have been notified in Delhi-NCR since the wetlands rules were brought out in 2010. Meanwhile, draft wetlands rules are set to decentralise its management to states.

Does the GEF-supported TDA-SAP process help countries achieve SDG14 targets?
A recently published UNDP report “Large Marine Ecosystems and Sustainable Development: A review of Strategic Management Processes and Goals” suggests that there is an intrinsic alignment between the Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis-Strategic Action Programme (TDA-SAP) Process and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 14 Targets and Indicators.

Webinar: The challenges and experiences in developing multi-objective basin plans
NEP-DHI Partnership in collaboration with DHI and the International Water Association (IWA) is organising a basin planning webinar on the 17th of May(13.00 CET) as part of a series of technical and thematic webinars focusing on innovative approaches to Floods and Droughts planning and management for basins and water utilities. The focus will be on basin planning within the context of climate change.

Expert training for the water utilities in Bangkok
The focus on the technical training was on the catchment and basin aspect of the water utility through i) data and information availability through satellite data to supplement the existing observation network, ii) support to the WSP process through the web-based WSP tool and iii) catchment and basin assessments using the basin planning tool (still under development) enabling PWA to evaluate the impact on the water availability from different types of investments in the Chao Phraya basin.

From data and information to planning
On the 5th and 6th of September, The Hydro-informatics Centre (HIC) organised a workshop with participants from Myanmar, Thailand (HAII), ESA and the UNEP Floods and Droughts Management Tools project (DHI/IWA). The aim of the workshop was to enhance the levels of understanding around the possibilities and need for data and hydroinformatics in assessments of impacts and risks of climate change, droughts and floods in Myanmar.

New UNICEF/WHO publication on safely managed drinking water
UNICEF and WHO are pleased to announce the new Joint Monitoring Programme for Water Supply and Sanitation (JMP) 2017 Thematic Report: Safely Managed Drinking Water. The report considers the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target for universal, equitable access to safely managed drinking water and outlines JMP plans for enhanced monitoring of drinking water in the SDG era. It also examines the availability of data on safely managed drinking water services.
